25 years of Beaver Scouting

Cutting the cake
Cutting the cake
2011 marks 25 years since the introduction of Beaver Scouting. To celebrate the occasion, around 100 Beaver Scouts from all over Bristol South District came together for a big birthday party at the 229th HQ in Ashton. There were snacks, music and lots of big party games for the Beavers to enjoy.

The party concluded with the cutting of the cake. The job of cutting the cake was saved for the Beaver Scout who won the competition to name the Bristol South District Beaver Mascot, Toothy – which turned out to be one of our own 255th Beavers, who has since become a Cub Scout!

Twenty cubs attended Brean Village Hall on 7-9 October 2011. We emphasised the OUT in Scouting as we spent most of the time outside, either walking or on the beach. We walked to Brean Fort and back from the Village Hall! The theme for the weekend was South America and the Cubs were split into three groups, each given a South American Country.

We’ve now uploaded a Gallery of photos from the event. More photos to follow, so please check back soon.

Congratulations to everyone who participated in our successful Pinewood Derby this month. Baloo organised a great event for the Cubs, complete with a bespoke, hand-made racing track and digital rankings. Spread over two nights in July, it was an exciting and entertaining two sessions for all concerned. Thanks to all the leaders and parents who helped to make it happen, and well done to James for being a worthy winner!
