Building project

The 255th Bristol Channel Sea Scouts have had a home of their own on the banks of the New Cut near the old ferry slipway for more than 80 years.

Sadly, the building fell into disrepair during the 1990s and could no longer be used. As the group began to grow again in this century, plans to rebuild a Scout Centre on the site began to develop, and this page will include the latest updates from this project.

The more adults get involved with our building project, the more possible it will become to complete. Whatever your skills or professional experience, there will be something you can contribute. See our volunteering page for current vacancies.

Our new building will be on the site of the old 255th hut next to St. Paul’s Church in Southville.

Latest news from the building project

  • Tidy Up Day!
With the lock down rules finally easing, a couple of of us decided to get down to Spyglass a do a somewhat late Spring Clean. We have never completed the painting on the Cargo 255 shipping container and so came armed with sandpaper, wire brushes, paint brushes, and rollers.
  • Channel Sea Scouts Building Project AGM update
Daisy’s location report! This two minute video from Scout reporter Daisy Ham will be shown at our AGM to bring everyone up to date with the project – and hopefully recruit some volunteers for the fundraising team.
