I have provisionally booked another residential trip to PGL, Liddington 27 – 29 September 2013. The price has slightly increased and will be £100.80 per person (excluding travel). I anticipate the total cost to be £120 maximum. There will be a maximum of 40 places available for this.
Look out for further details ASAP as I will sending out letters gauging interest very soon.
The 255th Cubs and Sea Scouts enjoyed an action-packed time last weekend at the PGL activity centre in Liddington. A dry and sometimes sunny autumn weekend saw the Cubs and Scouts trying out activities as diverse as climbing, raft building, zip wire, fencing, trapeze, quad biking and abseiling. The Cubs and Scouts also enjoyed a variety of evening activities – including a tense game of “Ambush” – and were well-fed and looked after by the PGL staff.
A gallery is now available that provides taste of what the 24 intrepid Cubs and Scouts who came on the trip got up to experience over the course of an excellent weekend that was enjoyed by all.
The Cubs and Scouts were led on their trip by Phil (Akela) and Toby from Cubs, Jo from Scouts and Mike (Badger) from Beavers. Thanks to Akela for organising a great weekend and to the PGL staff for making us all feel so welcome!
(In case you missed it, a gallery is also now available from the Cub District Camp at Easter Compton earlier in September.)
Wednesday evening was Rich’s last night at Scouts, sadly for us, happily for him, a new job beckons in the Midlands. In his short time with us he has been a respected, enthusiastic, gifted and popular leader. We wish him well. Chris GSL
All three sections of the 255th Bristol (Channel) Sea Scouts came together today to join the annual St. George’s Day parade and service with the rest of Bristol South District Scouts. Rain prevented the full-length flag parade from taking place, but it was still a spectacle to see all of the different Scout Groups assembled in one place. The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints on Wells Road then played host to a short Scouts’ Own service, where everybody joined in with the hymns, prayers and renewal of their Scout Promise. Here’s hoping for better weather next year!
All three of our Sections will be invited to attend a flag parade of Bristol South District Scouts, which is due to take place on Sunday 22nd April 2012. There will also be a parade rehearsal on the evening of Wedesday 18th April 2012.
Full details will be circulated to your Scouts, if they haven’t already, at the start of the Summer term, but in the mean time please hold the dates in your diaries if you can!
There are only three places remaining for the PGL Adventure Weekend on 28-30 September 2012, which is open to Cubs and Scouts. If your son/daughter would like to go then please email Akela ASAP who will provide you with more details and a copy of the payment schedule. The closing date for places is Monday 6th February.
