About

Beavers (6-8 years) Cubs (8-10½ years) Scouts (10½-14 years)

The 255th Bristol (Channel) Sea Scouts have been serving the community of Southville for 75 years. Our well established group has an extremely popular Beaver Colony and Cub Pack and, as of 2011, a growing Scout Troop.

As a Sea Scout group, our older Scouts have the opportunity to specialise in water-based activities. Otherwise we offer the full range of activities and adventure enjoyed by Scouts nationwide, and hold true to the core Purpose and Principles of Scouting.

“The purpose of Scouting is to contribute to the development of young people in achieving their full physical, intellectual, social and spiritual potential as responsible citizens and members of their local, national and international community.”

Most of all, we always try to ensure that our Scouts have FUN in everything they do!

Our Beavers and Cubs  meet on Monday evenings at a convenient venue in the heart of Southville (our Scouts meet on Wednesday evenings). We also hold occasional weekend outings, sleepovers and camps and actively participate in District and County level events such as the annual Jamboree, where our Scouts have the opportunity to meet children from other groups.

All three sections of our group are in demand and, while we are always keen to welcome new children to the world of Scouting, parents of prospective Beavers and Cubs should be aware that there is usually a long waiting list – so get your child’s name down at an early age!
