Things have been a bit quiet on this web site for a while, but we hope to provide some more updates soon, including the Beavers, Cubs and Scouts’ programmes for the autumn term and updates to the information on leaders, contacts etc. Further content will hopefully follow.
For the moment, we are pleased to bring you two new photo galleries showing off some of our latest exciting activities, including the brilliant Cub camp the pack has just shared:
May 2016 saw 255th Bristol (Channel) Sea Scouts attending the Avon Scout Jamboree at Westerleigh. Over 4,000 people were present at the event, which saw the Cubs and Scouts camp for three nights and the Beavers visit for a day. The activities were far too numerous to list here, but ranged from traditional crafts to sporting skills and exciting outdoor pursuits. Given the freedom to roam within their designated zones, the Cubs and Scouts could not have wished for a more action-packed three days and nights and, mercifully, the first night’s torrential rain gave way to beautiful weather for the rest of the weekend.
Take a look at our new gallery for a taste of some of the many activities that the Beavers, Cubs and Scouts took part in. We hope to add a couple of videos soon.
We can now share two new galleries with you showing some of the activities of our Scout section: highlights of this year’s water activities on the City Docks, and last year’s exciting visit to the Go Aloft! experience at the s.s. Great Britain.
The 255th Bristol (Channel) Sea Scouts will be attending a Remembrance Day service at St. Paul’s Church, Southville, this Sunday (9th November). Please could all members of the Group attend. We will be assembling outside the church at 10AM. All Beavers, Cubs and Scouts wear full uniform including dark shoes and trousers and should be wearing a poppy.
In addition to the recent invite to the Gang Show on 29 June, we are now pleased to be able to share with you an invitation to an American pancake breakfast fundraiser on 6 July. Please do join us for these events, which should both be great fun! Large versions of both invites can be seen by clicking on the images below.
The 255th Beavers, Cubs and Scouts had a grand day out together on Saturday. Travelling by coach to Bishop’s Lydeard near Taunton, the group took the West Somerset Railway cross-country to Minehead. At Minehead we hung out on the beach for a while before taking a walk along the promenade to the lifeboat station. Ice creams all round finished the day off nicely before taking the coach home. The Beavers, Cubs and Scouts seemed to enjoy spending the day together with a less structured programme than usual; with all three sections mixing together the day had a real family feel! A full gallery of photos is now available.
We are pleased to be able to share four more photo galleries with you tonight, including photos depicting the activities of our older Scouts.
Firstly we have a few more photos of the Cubs’ recent Mad March Night. Looking back to last year, we also now have photos of the Scouts’ visit to the ss Great Britain in July and their time spent sailing on the Floating Harbour during the summer. Finally, we have a gallery showing a few of the other activities the Scouts have been involved in since the section reopened in 2011.
Youth members talk about what they’ve enjoyed the most about being Beavers, Cubs and Scouts with the 255th Bristol (Channel) Sea Scouts in the following video, first shown at the 75th Anniversary service on Sunday:
A full photo gallery of the service is also now available.
Letters will be going out tomorrow night about the PGL Trip in 2013, Fri 27 – Sun 29th Sep 2013. We are only able to offer places to children who will be Cubs and Scouts when we go on this trip. Therefore, only a handful of beavers will be given letters.
Unfortunately the first deposits are due sooner than I thought so if you are interested then you must return a deposit of £18 in an envelope with your child’s name on it clearly marked PGL, by Monday 12th November at the latest. Any deposits after this time are unlikely to be accepted as we have a deadline to pay PGL by.
Places will be allocated on a first come first served basis.
